COURSE INFORMATION
CORE PE
All S3/4 pupils will participate in this school-based certificated course two periods per week. The course is designed to enhance skills and concepts learned in S1/2, develop and broaden pupils’ sporting interests, allow pupils to take some responsibility for their own learning, as well as promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
In S4 pupils may opt into the Junior Sports Leader Award. This course teaches leadership through the medium of sport and caters for all abilities as pupils learn to develop as individuals whilst experiencing how to lead others. The objective is to teach pupils to take responsibility for their own decisions as they learn how to lead others thereby enhancing self-esteem and confidence. Module A involves the organisation and communication aspects of the course leading into Module B when the pupils have to lead sessions and demonstrate a high level of competence in working with their peers and younger groups of pupils. The pupils are assessed by the course tutor and a logbook is completed and signed to gain their JSL award.
